Its almost time again for our annual Memorial Day Parade and BBQ! This year’s BBQ will be held on Monday, May 28th, at Rachel Shapiro’s house, immediately following the parade. To register for food donations, click here. See you all at the parade!
On Saturday, February 11 at 7:00pm, the YHS Bands will again present a Valentine’s Day Swing Dance and Concert in the Yorktown High School Gym. Bring your friends and family for a night of dancing to live music supplied by the YHS Concert Band, Jazz Band, and Wind Ensemble! The evening will begin at 7:00 with a one-hour beginning swing dance lesson provided by a professional dance studio. Then, show-off your new moves out on the dance floor as you enjoy music from the Swing Era from 8:00-10:00. Light refreshments will be served. Swing Era attire is encouraged. Admission is $8 for adults and $5 for students and senior citizens.

Band midterms will take place this week, Monday, January 23 to Friday, January 27.
For the band midterms from tuesday through friday, you will be warming up in room 152 (across from the English office) and then taking your midterm on the stage. Please be prompt at your scheduled time.

Additionally, please make sure that you have gotten a Swing CD with music from the upcoming concert on it. If you haven’t, please talk to your section leader. Also, if the CD you received doesn’t have a listing of the songs on it or you lost yours, you can download it here.
In an effort to make sure everyone who wants lesson reminders is getting them, we have sent out a text message out this morning for concert band and in the early afternoon for wind ensemble which said “This is a test. Don’t delete this message. It will be discussed in band today.” If you have recieved this text message and want to keep recieving text message lesson reminders, do nothing. If you want to receive text message lesson reminders and haven’t received this message, you either needed to fill out the 1/4 sheet of paper in class with your first name, last name, email address, cell phone number, cell phone provider, and cell phone type/name or if you didn’t fill this out, you can email those pieces of information to admin@yhsbands.com.
Once we have fixed everyone’s issue (or so we think), we will send out a text message to everyone stating “If you have received this message, reply ok” and we will make sure that everyone received this and replied to this so when you get this message, please reply promptly.

Our winter concert will be on Tuesday 12/6 at 7:30 in the YHS Auditorium. Reception to follow. Band students need to arrive by 7:00 to warm up and tune. Dress is concert black:
Boys: Black long dress pants, black long button down dress shirt with collar. Black socks and black shoes.
Girls: Black long dress pants, or black long skirt (well below the knee), black blouse or top with appropriate sleeves and neckline. Black dress shoes.

Citrus orders are due by the end of the school day on Thursday! Online citrus orders will be accepted until Thursday at 11:59pm.
Remember, anyone can easily order citrus online at www.fruitorder.com. Do your part and sell at least 5 boxes!
