Last week on Monday, November 17th, the Valhalla High School band students visited YHS for a day of collaboration with our high school bands in preparation for our concert at Valhalla High School on December 8th.

The day started with a breakfast for Concert Band and VHS band. Afterwards, the Valhalla band rehearsed with the Concert Band, practicing music for the upcoming concert. Later in the day, the bands engaged in a leadership discussion during which many helpful suggestions were exchanged in order to improve both band programs. After this discussion, the VHS band and Wind Ensemble shared lunch (provided by many generous band parents). To end the day, the Valhalla band rehearsed with the Wind Ensemble, perfecting the holiday music.

Overall, the day was a total success. Not only did members from both bands have a great time, it was also an enlightening educational experience. The infectious enthusiasm of all of Yorktown band members was so great that all band members are now excitedly anticipating our winter concert at VHS. This collaboration with Valhalla will surely be one to remember.
