Such a fun YHS Band tradition! Winners from each class will receive part of my citrus order.

Congratulations to our YHS Music students who represented Yorktown as members of Area All-State this weekend; honor ensembles made up of the best student musicians in the county.
Bravo to juniors Gillian Grabowski (horn) and Selma Lyons (trumpet) on a beautiful concert performance with the AAS Concert Band!
On Tuesday morning, I had an unexpected issue at home and needed to take part of the day. I’d like to give a shout out to our Concert Band students for running their own rehearsal in my absence. Students helped each other get organized and successfully play through our daily exercise routine, and one of our songs. Thank you all for demonstrating excellent citizenship and musicianship! Special thanks to juniors Michael Mezzancello and Austin Georgescu for conducting.
Thank you to the 30 YHS Band students who turned out to support our Varsity Football team for their first playoff game. Friday evening was a great win and great fun!
Thank you so much to the parents who so generously sent in snacks, water, and hot chocolate – the students always very much appreciate and enjoy your generosity!
I made two epic typos in last week’s update – BOTH festival dates were not correct. (Although – both dates are listed correctly in our Band Handbook, which I shared in September…)
Please add these corrected festival dates to your family calendar:
WIND ENSEMBLE FESTIVAL TRIP
Students in the Wind Ensemble will participate in an overnight festival trip Friday 4/25 through Sunday 4/27. More info TBA.
CONCERT BAND FESTIVAL TRIP – SAVE THE DATE!
Students in the Concert Band will participate in a day festival trip on Saturday 5/17. More info TBA.
Do you need help practicing your lesson HW assignment? Guided practice sessions are offered weekly and hosted by our junior and senior band members (thank you!). Students who lead or attend a session receive 1 point of extra credit. Sessions are held period 9, unless noted otherwise. I am also always available for help by appointment.
Please join me before school (from 7:10…or whenever you get off the bus… until the first bell) to practice improvising. Help yourself develop your skills and a plan for success!
Rehearsals are 7:00-8:30 in the YHS Band Room. Jazz Band students are asked to arrive by 6:50 so we can be warmed up and tuned to start promptly at 7:00. Music, recordings, and this week’s HW are all posted on Dashboard.
I am now able to log in and see each students’ orders! Tomorrow in class I will hand each student a print out of their orders.
We still have a few mystery customers who are not attached to a student. Did your student sell to any of these people: Kaethe Bierbach, Anna Hoti-Munson, Lauren Biczak, Mary Mitchell, Natalie Johnson, Barbara Walsh, Miwa Wenzel, or Joann Monroe?
Due to the extended tech glitch, the grove is allowing us to extend our truck delivery sales date:
1. Monday, November 18th is the NEW on-line order deadline for truck delivery to YHS
2. Sunday, December 15th is still the on-line order deadline for USPS delivery to your home/customers’ homes
