YHS BAND UPDATE #21

Feb 10, 2026

Dear YHS Band Parents and Students,

This week was filled with wonderful examples of musicianship, citizenship, and friendship. I’m still smiling!!

JAZZ BAND WORLD TOUR SUCCESS!

Congratulations to our Jazz Band students! What fun to see you share your music, connect with our 2-8 grade students, and reconnect with former teachers.

Thank you for your professionalism. You served as excellent musical ambassadors and examples of the many ways that students can be involved in our learning community. And, you all pitched in to make the day’s logistics go smoothly.  Working together, you navigated loading, unloading, and setting up our equipment (5 times!) – all within the constraints of our very strict itinerary.

Extra special thanks to Ms. Knittle for helping chaperone our trip.  Your support, help, and time are so appreciated!

What a great day – I am so proud of you!

KELLY AND TANK VISIT!

As part of our study of Jazz and the Swing Era, we welcomed dance instructors Tank and Kelly into our classroom. Students had fun learning some new moves!

BASKETBALL PEP BAND THANKS!

Many thanks to the Pep Band students who lent their musical support at Friday’s 5th annual “Charlie Strong” benefit game for Blythedale Children’s Hospital. Your Band spirit was strong, and so appreciated by the crowd and players alike!

SWING DANCE CONGRATS AND THANKS!

What a beautiful evening of sharing music and building community, all while showcasing our talented students! I’m so incredibly proud!!

A huge thank you to everyone who so generously contributed their time, talents, or donations, to help make our event possible. Whether you worked behind the scenes on our planning team or raffle committee, helped us decorate the gym, dropped off food items, or volunteered your valuable time – so many people worked so hard to make this event a success.  The students and I sincerely THANK YOU!

Thank you also to our core planning team of Mrs. Cabral, Mrs. Cassetta, Mrs. Griffiths, Mr. & Mrs. Guarini, Mrs. Iizuka, Mrs. Jacobs, Mrs. Jones, Ms. McGill, Mrs. Mezzancello, Ms. Rindone, Mrs. Shenoy, Mrs. Tropp & Mr. Grabowski, and Mrs. Whalen. You each spearheaded and contributed to a million different aspects of the evening, and it was so much fun to work alongside you. Your time, organization, and creativity are so appreciated!

Special thanks to Mr. Grabowski, Mr. Moore and the YHS Tech Crew for planning our sound and lighting. Thanks to their time and help, our students sounded fabulous and the lighting effects really transformed the space.

Special thanks also to Ms. Rindone for lending us your time and talents to create our welcome video and post our raffle prizes and winners!

With the support and generosity of our community and local businesses, our total profit for the evening is $3,000!
