BRING HOME YOUR INSTRUMENT, LYRE & MUSIC ON FRIDAY 5/22!
On your way out to the bus, swing by the Band Room and pick up your instrument, lyre, and music.
If you play a large instrument that will not fit on the bus (ex. drums, tuba, etc), I will bring it to the parade for you. (At the end of the parade, you will walk your large instrument to the Acme parking lot for pick up). FRIDAY AFTER CLASS, please put your large instrument by the back door. Put everything you need in the case.

REMINDERS ABOUT THE SIGNIFICANCE OF MEMORIAL DAY
- We are performing an important service for our Yorktown Community.
- Behave with respect and pride at all times – we are honoring those who have given their lives for our freedom.
- Before the parade, we will perform Taps and stand or sit quietly during the speeches. Then, we will participate in the parade march.
AFTER THE PARADE AT THE GAZEBO:
· Everyone will turn in their lyre and phone lyre.
· DRUM-LINE & LARGE INSTRUMENTS are responsible for carrying your instrument to the ACME parking lot and loading it into one of the volunteer cars for transport back to YHS.
TAPS ACROSS AMERICA
An opportunity for musicians to honor the true meaning of Memorial Day. Please consider participating in this National experience.
At 3:00pm on Memorial Day (Monday 5/25) at 3pm local time, musicians of all types are invited to step outside their homes and perform Taps for their neighborhood. More details and a link to the music can be found below. https://www.tapsacrossamerica.org/. Please consider sharing with your friends and family.
REMINDER – BRING YHS RENTAL INSTRUMENTS TO SCHOOL
If you have a YHS rental instrument at home that you need for the parade, please bring it in by Tuesday morning 5/26. The second round of instruments will be picked up that morning for cleaning and maintenance.
I’m looking forward to lending our musicianship and citizenship, as we march and play our music in honor of the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.
Thank you for your support!
