Our annual Music Boosters Tag Sale is back again this year! Please save your stuff to donate. Our sale is Saturday 10/21 from 9am-2pm at YHS. We will be accepting donations on Friday 10/20 from 2:30-7pm. Tell your friends and neighbors! Parent and student volunteers will be needed to make this event a success. Look for an e-mail in the coming weeks to find out how you can help. A flyer is attached.

Do you need help practicing your lesson HW assignment? Guided practice sessions are offered weekly and hosted by our junior and senior band members (thank you!). Students who lead or attend a session receive 1 point of extra credit. Sessions are held period 9, unless noted otherwise. Ms. Kluga is also always available for help by appointment

Rehearsals begin Thursday, 9/28 from 7:00-8:30 in the YHS Band Room. Students are asked to arrive by 6:50 so we can be warmed up and tuned to start promptly at 7:00. Students have received their music and a HW assignment. Music, recordings, and their HW are all available on Dashboard. Let’s have a great first rehearsal!
Mark your calendars – all band students are invited! Join us as we perform crowd-rallying music at the varsity football game, and enjoy a pre-game dinner and tons of Band spirit!

Many thanks to the 30 YHS Band students who turned out on Thursday night to cheer on our Varsity Football team. It was another exciting victory, with awesome support from our enthusiastic student section in the stands!
Thank you also to the parents who sent in snacks – the students always very much appreciate and enjoy your generosity!
It was so nice to see many of you Thursday evening! The handouts and class photos/videos Ms. Kluga reviewed in her presentation are attached. And, if you have questions she is happy to help. It has been a pleasure to get to know and begin to work with your students!
YHS has a message system that alerts guardians when a student misses a class. Unfortunately, like many of you experienced this week, the system does not catch excused absences like band lessons. FYI – when your student has a band lesson it will take a bit for their excused absence to be hand-entered. Ms. Kluga has attached the September lesson calendar to help you anticipate a message.

JAZZ BAND MEETING & AUDITIONS – Wednesday 9/20
Auditions will take place this Wednesday 9/20 from 1:40 – 3:00. Requirements and sign-ups are available in the Band room. Weekly rehearsals will begin Thursday 9/28, 6:50-8:30pm. Returning Jazz Band students do not need to audition, but are required to attend the meeting at 1:40.

This morning many of our YHS Band students enjoyed a fun apple picking trip to Wilken’s! Students enjoyed apples, cider and donuts, and priceless Band Family memories. Many thanks to the farm staff and to our band parents who help make this annual tradition possible!
