BASKETBALL PEP BAND PERFORMANCE ~ FRIDAY 2/7

Come out and support our Huskers and Blythedale Children’s Hospital at YHS’s 4th annual “Charlie Strong” game!

WHEN: Friday 2/7/25. Report at 6:00pm in the Band Room

BRING: Bring your instrument and charged cell phone.

WEAR: Your YHS Band polo. Music and Snacks will be provided.

GAME: The basketball game will run from 7-8:30pm.

SWING DANCE CONCERT – SATURDAY 2/8/25

Our next major event is the fun and fabulous Swing Dance Concert! Please save the date: Saturday, February 8th 2025 from 7-10:30pm in the YHS Gym. All YHS Band students are required to attend.

Now in its 16th year, the Swing Dance Concert is an eagerly anticipated, well-attended and fun evening for our entire Yorktown community (each year we have many senior citizens and community members attend and enjoy the evening with us!).

RECEPTION THANKS!

Many thanks to the band parents who so generously donated food items, or their time, to host our post-concert outdoor reception.  Special thanks to Ms. Rindone for coordinating the on-line donations.  It was wonderful to see all the smiles from our students and families as everyone celebrated their performance!

CITRUS DELIVERY DAY THANKS!

Many thanks, also, for your support and help making our Citrus Day a success. Thank you to Ms. Rindone for coordinating the volunteers and food donations and to all who so generously donated supplies, food items, or your valuable time to help make this day a success!

Special thanks to Ms. Rindone, Mrs. Iizuka, Mr. Mahanna, Mr. and Mrs. Harrison, Mrs. Jacobs, Mrs. Espinosa, Mrs. Griffiths, Mrs. Cassetta, Mrs. Tsentides, Mrs. Katzenberg, Mrs. Federico and Mrs. Longo for volunteering so much of your time on Citrus Day – helping us unload the truck, keep our logistics organized, and keep the day flowing.

It is always a pleasure to work alongside you to make these events happen for our students!

SWING DANCE CONCERT PLANNING COMMITTEE

We are in need of parent volunteers, please, to help us plan this event. Roles include: securing raffle prizes, creating raffle baskets, planning logistics, and working the raffle table, admissions table, and buffet table the evening of the event.

Our committee meeting is Thursday 1/9/25 from 6-7pm in the YHS Band Room. Please let me know if you would be able to help – we would love to have you join our team!

YHS STUDENTS PERFORM IN TUBACHRISTMAS

Today, 400+ tuba and euphonium players participated in the 51th annual TubaChristmas concert at Rockefeller Center. Congrats to YHS seniors Sharik Bose (tuba), Garrett Jokonya (euphonium) and my daughter Lindy (euphonium) for performing in this fun event!

WINTER CONCERT – TUESDAY 12/10 – REMINDERS

§  Our YHS Band Winter Concert will take place Tuesday, December 10th at 7pm in the YHS auditorium. Students will be asked to arrive by 6:30pm (Jazz Band at 5:45pm) for sound check.

§  Students are asked to wear “Concert Black,” which is all black professional, dressy attire.

o   Ladies: Black dressy shirt. No sleeveless shirts or spaghetti straps. Appropriate necklines, please. Black dressy pants or skirt (below the knee when you sit down) and black dress shoes.

o   Gentlemen: Black dressy button-down long-sleeved shirt with a collar. Black dress pants. Black dress shoes. Black socks.

o   Jazz Band: We will wear concert black with a crazy tie.

§  Concert Reception – Parent help needed, please

o   To celebrate our students’ performance, we will host a reception in the cafeteria.
