We are in need of parent volunteers, please, to help us plan this event. Roles include: securing raffle prizes, creating raffle baskets, planning logistics, and working the raffle table, admissions table, and buffet table the evening of the event. Our next committee meeting is Thursday 1/11/24 from 6-7pm in the YHS Band Room. Please let Ms Kluga know if you would be able to help – we would love to have you join our team!
Each holiday season we are proud to participate in Operation Santa, using part of our band fundraising proceeds to purchase clothes and gifts for a needy child. Thank you to the Band Officers for purchasing and wrapping our gifts, and to the band families who so generously sent in additional items. Maimuna is a 3 year old pre-school student in the Bronx, and we hope that she will have a very Merry Christmas!
New music, recordings, and an assignment will be posted and reviewed this week. No rehearsal this Thursday. We will resume next Thursday 1/4/24 from 6:50-8:30pm. Happy practicing!
That concludes the final update for 2023! Wishing our YHS Band Family a very happy and healthy holiday season, and all the best for 2024!
This is the only time Tech Crew is available to work with us. It is important to have everyone present at this rehearsal so that the tech crew can set our levels.
Students! Help will be needed on Monday and Tuesday folding programs and decorating the stage. Please stop by during your lunch, study hall, or free periods. Extra credit!
§ Our YHS Band Winter Concert will take place Tuesday, December 12th at 7pm in the YHS auditorium. Students will be asked to arrive by 6:30pm (Jazz Band at 5:45pm) for sound check.

To celebrate our student’s performance, we will host a reception in the cafeteria. Check out our SignUp Genius for ways you can help. Thank you – your donations of time and reception items are so appreciated! (And, thank you to Mrs. Rindone and Mrs. Aoukar for creating the signup!)
Your student is responsible for picking up their entire order on 12/14 between 2:30 and 7:00pm at YHS, and then delivering to their customers.
Student and parent volunteers are needed, please, to make this day run smoothly. Our citrus truck will arrive at 7am to be unloaded, we will spend the day stacking and organizing our 500+ boxes, and then distribute orders between 2:30-6:30pm.
This is a tradition (and logistics!) that we are still bringing back from COVID. Please consider donating your time and/or supplies.
Parents, check out the SignUp Genius for ways you can help (thank you to Mrs. Rindone and Mrs. Aoukar for creating the signup!)
Students, please sign up in the Band Room.
Today, 375 tuba and euphonium players participated in the 50th anniversary Tuba Christmas performance at Rockefeller Center. Congrats to YHS junior Sharik Bose (tuba) and my daughter Lindy (euphonium) for braving the elements to be part of this fun event!
Again this year, the YHS Band program is sponsoring a needy child for the holidays. Her name is Maimuna and she is 3 years old. Using part of the funds we have raised through our Tag Sale and Citrus Sale, the Band Officers will purchase items from her list to Santa. If you are interested in donating additional items, please contact me. Maimuna wears a 7c toddler shoe, and size 4T shirt/pants. We are interested in all clothing items (pj’s, winter outfits, socks, and shoes), and a few toys/treats. All items are needed by Friday 12/8.
Will take place after break. This assessment will help us gauge your musical progress and readiness to perform in our Winter Concert. Make time to practice – music, recordings, and weekly lesson HW are all posted on Dashboard. Ask me if you have questions or need help.
Will resume next week.
Amazingly, we only have 2 rehearsals left until our Winter Concert! Please arrive by 6:50 so we can be warmed up and tuned to start promptly at 7:00. Make time to practice – music, recordings, and this week’s HW are all posted on Dashboard.
WHITE TIES
Jazz Band students – part of our concert attire is a white tie. Please purchase one in time for our Winter Concert – a suggestion is here.
