YHS has a message system that alerts guardians when a student misses a class. Unfortunately, like many of you experienced this week, the system does not catch excused absences like band lessons. FYI – when your student has a band lesson it will take a bit for their excused absence to be hand-entered. Ms. Kluga has attached the September lesson calendar to help you anticipate a message.

Our annual Music Boosters Tag Sale is back again this year! Please save your stuff to donate. Our sale is Saturday 10/21 from 9am-2pm at YHS. We will be accepting donations on Friday 10/20 from 2:30-7pm. Tell your friends and neighbors! Parent and student volunteers will be needed to make this event a success. Look for an e-mail in the coming weeks to find out how you can help.
GUIDED PRACTICE
Do you need help practicing your lesson HW assignment? Guided practice sessions are offered weekly and hosted by our junior and senior band members (thank you!). Students who lead or attend a session receive 1 point of extra credit. Sessions are held period 9, unless noted otherwise. Ms. Kuga is also always available for help by appointment.

JAZZ BAND MEETING & AUDITIONS – Wednesday 9/20
Auditions will take place this Wednesday 9/20 from 1:40 – 3:00. Requirements and sign-ups are available in the Band room. Weekly rehearsals will begin Thursday 9/28, 6:50-8:30pm. Returning Jazz Band students do not need to audition, but are required to attend the meeting at 1:40.

Many thanks to the 40 YHS Band students who turned out on Thursday night to cheer on our Varsity Football team. It was an exciting victory over Mahopac, with awesome support from our enthusiastic student section in the stands!
This morning many of our YHS Band students enjoyed a fun apple picking trip to Wilken’s! Students enjoyed apples, cider and donuts, and priceless Band Family memories. Many thanks to the farm staff and to our band parents who help make this annual tradition possible!

It was so much fun welcoming back our awesome music students our 22nd annual Ice Cream Social! Many thanks to our student leaders and parent volunteers for their help making this event a success!
Many thanks to our awesome team of student leaders for hosting this annual event! Our 44 freshmen students were welcomed to their first day with bagels, muffins, and plenty of smiles.
Bring your instrument and charged cell phone. Music and snacks will be provided. Late buses are available at 3:30. Join us to play some fun pop music, enjoy snacks (because Band = Food), and enjoy time together.
