Time/Place: Yorktown TOWN HALL. Please arrive promptly by 10:30am.

Dress: YHS Band Polo, black pants, black shoes, black socks

BRING: Your lyre, charged cell phone, back up charger, and instrument.

After our parade performance, all YHS Band students are invited to the 18th annual YHS Band Memorial Day BBQ at the Bose home. (Many thanks to the Bose family for opening their home to us!) A sign-up sheet and information on how to contribute food for this event will be available in the coming weeks.

The First Nighters are excited to invite our Performing Arts seniors to an afternoon picnic in Downing Park. Details below.

The YHS Band has been asked to perform at the 2023 YHS Graduation. Students of the 2023-2024 Wind Ensemble are asked to participate. (If you are not in next year’s WE, but are a sibling of a graduating senior and would like to save your family a ticket, you are also welcome to join us!)

The 2023 graduates, and our entire learning community, truly appreciate your time and talents!

Who:              Students in the ’23-‘24 Wind Ensemble and/or siblings of graduating seniors.

What:             Provide graduation music for the seniors of YHS!!

Time:              Arrive at the YHS band room by 9:00 AM. Ceremony is at 10:00AM

Attire:            Please dress “nicely” (no jeans, t-shirts, or sneakers).

Bring:             Your music, your instrument and water.

Bandapalooza VIII was a success!  Hooray for a positive musical experience for all Yorktown band students!  Our YHS Band students performed beautifully and acted as fine and helpful hosts for the evening – cheering for and guiding the younger band students.  Mrs. Kluga is very proud!

As you know, Bandapalooza is an incredible logistical undertaking – a huge combined effort of so many forces.  Many thanks to our AMAZING team of student volunteers who helped set up and tear down the 500 chairs, 500 seat name tags, 300 music stands, and percussion equipment – all with a sense of enthusiasm and a sense of fun.  Our event would not have been possible without you!

Many thanks also to all our awesome parent volunteers working behind the scenes to make this event run so smoothly – thank you for your time and food donations!  Special thanks to band parent Mrs. Maria Aoukar for coordinating the parent volunteers.  Our event would not have been successful without all of you!

Students who lead or attend a session receive 1 point of extra credit. Sessions are held period 9. Mrs. Kluga is also always available for help by appointment.

Jazz Band – as mentioned at last week’s rehearsal, we have been asked to perform on Friday, May 19^th during p.9, for the Class of 2020 meet and greet. Please mark your calendars.

Seniors! As part of YHS Band tradition, we would like to honor you in the following ways:

• Senior Bio featured in our Spring Concert program – due Monday 5/8 (see attached)
• Senior Will featured in our YHS Band Yearbook – due Monday 5/8 (see attached)
• Senior dinner at Little Sorrento’s – Monday 5/15 (our concert day) at 4:30pm, more info TBD

Concert Band parents, we have had to make a few changes regarding our Hershey festival trip. Our adjudication will now take place at YHS. The date is the same, Saturday, May 20th 2023. Please note the new information attached.
