Rehearsals are 7:00-8:30 in the YHS Band Room/Auditorium. Jazz Band students are asked to arrive by 6:50 so we can be warmed up and tuned to start promptly at 7:00.  Music, recordings, and this week’s HW are all available on Dashboard.

Offered weekly and hosted by our junior and senior band members (thank you!). Students who lead or attend a session receive 1 point of extra credit. Sessions are held period 9, unless noted otherwise. Ms. Kluga is also always available for help by appointment.

9^th grade students – if you participated in NYSSMA last year (as an 8^th grader), you may be eligible for the Intermediate All-County Band. Please bring in your NYSSMA score sheet this week and Ms. Kluga will fill out your application.

Our country’s premier military band is touring the Northeast! Concert is THIS Saturday 10/9, 3-5pm at John Jay HS in Hopewell Junction, NY. Ms. Kluga is planning to attend with her family – she hopes to see you and your family there! Reserve your free tickets here.

Our annual Music Boosters Tag Sale is back again this year! Please save your stuff to donate.  Our sale is Saturday 10/22 from 9am-2pm at YHS.  We will be accepting donations on Friday 10/21 from 3-7pm.  Tell your friends and neighbors!  Parent and student volunteers will be needed to make this event a success.  Look for an e-mail in the coming weeks to find out how you can help. Our Music Dept. Citrus Sale, now in its 19^th year, is a well-established fundraiser, anticipated by our community and alumni. This year, we are pleased to bring back our sale in person! In 2019, our last in person sale, our music students SOLD 1,498 boxes and earned a PROFIT of $21,820. 

Each year, our Band, Choir, and Orchestra ensembles all participate in regional music festivals.  The monies raised from this sale will help students defray the cost of their festival participation.

Information on how to order will be shared this week. If you or anyone you know is interested in supporting our group, please share our information. Your enthusiastic participation will ensure our success!

Thank you to the 30 students who joined us on Friday to support our Huskers as they rolled to victory over Nyack. Special thanks to the team of band parents who sent in snacks and hot chocolate – it was very much appreciated!

Extra special thanks to junior trumpet players Esther-Anne Villamin and George Whalen, who so beautifully performed the National Anthem before the game. 

Ms. Kluga was so happy tosee many of you Thursday evening!  The handouts she reviewed in her presentation is attached. And, if you have questions, Ms. Kluga is happy to help. It has been a pleasure for her to get to know and work with your students!

Many thanks to the 30 YHS Band students who turned out on Friday night to cheer on our Varsity Football team. Although the game was a tough loss, we did our best to offer our enthusiastic musical support!

Our next home game performance will be Friday 9/30 vs. Nyack. Report time is 5:30. Game 7-9:30pm. Please join us!
