FYI – Ms. Kluga had to make a few changes to your upcoming lesson days/periods. Please see the revised October lesson calendar, which is attached and on Dashboard.
All students have a new lesson assignment this week. You should hear some music making at home 🙂
Students can earn extra credit by attending a guided practice session, or an extra help appointment.
Practice sessions are offered weekly by our upperclassmen, and are held both in person (socially distanced with instrument PPE) and over zoom. The date/time is communicated in my class announcements. Ms. Kluga is also always available for extra help by appointment.
Thank you to our awesome upperclassmen for your time and leadership! You are making a difference!
We will meet Thursday 10/22 from 2-3. Please arrive early so that we can begin promptly at 2.
Practice with the A-ccompany app to help you learn your music. Check out this video on all the cool features. Part assignments are posted under Jazz Band Documents on Dashboard. Happy practicing!
This week all band students recorded their first video assessment of the year via Flip Grid. Ms. Kluga so enjoyed the opportunity to hear each student perform individually, and offer them personalized feedback. Students will use this assessment to form a personalized learning plan for our year together – what musical concepts they are confident in, and what concepts they will focus on improving.
You should have received your child’s video and feedback link via e-mail. Enjoy their performance!
At this week’s band lessons, we will begin to use a new app called UpBeat. This platform combines the social meeting abilities of Zoom, with the recording abilities of Acapella. Ms. Kluga looks forward to using this tool to enhance our music virtual learning experience! Check it out at https://upbeatmusicapp.com/

If you need help, attend a guided practice session or please ask Ms. Kluga. Happy practicing!
Concert Band and Wind Ensemble students, please join your usual class zoom call. It will be brief. Then, if you have a lesson scheduled for that same period, we will move to our lesson call and use the time to answer questions about your FlipGrid video assignment.
Is available on Dashboard under the Lesson Resources tab. Lesson zoom links are posted on the Lesson Homework tab.
This week, students will experience their first video assessment of the year. Each student will upload a video of themselves performing this week’s homework assignment to Flip Grid. This assessment will act as a base-line for the start of our year together, and help the student and Ms. Kluga form a personalized learning plan – what musical concepts they are confident in, and what concepts we will focus on improving. Please do not think this performance has to be perfect! Prepare well and try your best!
Instructions on how to join my Flip Grid classroom are posed in the Lesson Homework tab on your Dashboard. Videos will be private, only shared with me. Ms. Kluga will use a rubric that she created within Flip Grid to offer feedback to each student individually.
Thank you to our awesome junior and senior students who have hosted practice sessions this week – your time and leadership are so appreciated!
These practice sessions (offered weekly) are held both in person (socially distanced with instrument PPE) and over zoom. The date/time is communicated in my class announcements. If you have questions on your lesson homework, Ms. Kluga strongly suggests you attend. Students who lead or attend a session receive 1 point of extra credit.
Ms. Kluga is also always available for help by appointment. We all want you to be successful!
