Summer Concerts

A wealth of world-class FREE concerts are offered each summer at West Point (including an AMAZING 4th of July Concert featuring the 1812 Overture with fire works and REAL CANNONS!)  For details, please visit www.westpointband.com.  If you’ve never been, the campus is gorgeous and so historically interesting.  A real gem of the Hudson Valley and worth a visit!

Details: Jazz Band Performance @ Relay This Friday 6/9

Ms. Kluga has been notified that our performance time is from 8-8:30pm.  We will meet at 7:30 at the Jack DeVito memorial track (in town by the Yorktown Stage). Dress is concert black with a purple bow tie (Kevin is letting us borrow his purple bow ties again this year – thank you Kevin!). You are responsible for bringing your instrument, music, and water.  We will need help with our large equipment – please see below.

 

We will perform the following songs:

  3. Jumpin’ at the Woodside – Arnav
  4. Stompin’ at the Savoy – Roger
  5. Cantaloupe – Roger
  6. Doxy – Roger
  7. Sonny’s Place – Joey

  9. Sing, Sing, Sing – Joey

 

 

FORM IS NEEDED

New this year, the Relay organizers are requesting that all student participants fill out the form attached to the email.  Please return it to Ms. Kluga in class this week.

 

HELP IS NEEDED!  We need assistance bringing 30 chairs, stands, and equipment from YHS to Relay.  If you have a large car and are able to help, please let me know.  We will load equipment on Friday 6/9 after school, and will need all equipment returned either after the performance, or on Monday morning.

Instrument & Supply Returns

If your student has a YHS owned instrument, and has not yet returned it, please bring it into school this week. Also, any flip-folders, lyres, mouthpieces, books, or any other borrowed supplies need to be returned. Thanks!

 

If your student has rented from ARDSLEY or MUSIC & ARTS, they are also due in the band room.  Please clean out your case, make sure all mouthpieces, ligatures, and mouthpiece covers are present.  If you would like to continue your rental program over the summer, please contact your rental company.

 

Music & Arts Location Now Open in Mt. Kisco

Offering lessons, rentals and repairs, supplies, print music and instruments for purchase.  A $10 coupon, and brochures with more info are available in the band room.

Also, all YHS Band students are offered one free private lesson at their studios.  Call the store to schedule.  And, a new rental option is now being offered as well – students can rent an intermediate instrument (instead of a beginning model), with the monthly rental fees going towards the purchase of the instrument.

BBQ Thank You!

Huge thanks to the Vespucci family for opening their home yesterday to host our annual YHS Band Barbeque!  Despite the damp weather, it was a lovely afternoon to enjoy the company of our Band Family and celebrate our year together.  Thank you also to the parent chaperones who donated their time.  The students and Ms. Kluga greatly appreciate your support –  it is because of our amazing band families that our many yearly events are so successful!  And, thank you so much to the students for the beautiful card and sweet YHS Band tote and beach stuff.

Congratulations to every YHS Band student on a great concert on Wednesday night!  Ms. Kluga is very proud of your fine performance!  Special congrats to our 24 seniors on your final concert.  What a special and memorable night for our entire YHS Band Family – She is so proud to be your band director!

 

Many thanks to all band parents who helped provide all of the goodies and decorations for our senior reception.  What a lovely way to end a lovely evening (and a fantastic four years!).  Special thanks to Mrs. Serafin for organizing the parent donations, and to all the band parents who helped set up, serve, and tear down the reception treats.
