JAZZ BAND AUDITIONS

Auditions will take place Wednesday 9/22 from 1:35 – 3:00 in the Band room. Requirements and sign-ups are available in the Band room. Weekly rehearsals will begin the week of 9/27 on a day and time TBA.

Returning Jazz Band students do not need to audition, but are required to attend the meeting at 1:35 on 9/22.

TAG SALE

Our annual Music Boosters Tag Sale is back! Please save your stuff to donate.  Our sale is Saturday 10/16 from 9am-2pm outdoors in the tent and courtyard adjacent to the YHS Library.  We will be accepting donations on Friday 10/15 from 3-7pm.  Tell your friends and neighbors!  Parent and student volunteers will be needed to make this event a success.  Look for an e-mail in the coming weeks to find out how you can help. A flyer is attached.

YHS INSTRUMENT RENTALS

If your student plays the oboe, bassoon, bass clarinet, tenor sax, bari sax, horn, trombone, or euphonium, your rental instrument is ready and can be picked up on the first day of school. Please bring a check for $150, made payable to YCSD.

NEW YHS BAND POLOS!

Your very stylish dry-fit YHS Band polo will be worn at our many events.  All band students are required to own a polo – students can either use the old design from last year, or purchase our new design. Polos are $28.50.  Please bring cash or check to the first day of school (sizes are available to try-on). Please make checks payable to YHS Music Boosters.

Thursday 9/9: Pep Band rehearsal. 1:45-3:15pm. Band Room. Late bus available at 3:30.

Let’s get ready for our first home game of the season! Join us to have fun playing fun music!

Friday 9/10: Pep Band @ Varsity Football Game. Arrive at 5:30pm. Game 7-9:30pm.

Join us for our first home game! Come on out and support our Huskers!

Sunday 9/19: YHS Band Spirit Trip to Wilken’s Farm. 10am-12pm. Meet at Wilkens Farm. Cost $12 cash. Join us for this yearly YHS Band tradition! $12 gets you ½ peck of apples, 1 cider doughnut, a cup of apple cider, and priceless band memories…

ICE CREAM SOCIAL IS **THIS FRIDAY 9/3**

WHAT: Ice Cream Social to celebrate our entire YHS Music Department

WHEN: ***Friday 9/3 from 6-8pm*** (Due to storms forecasted for Wed -Thurs)

WHERE: on the lawn in front of YHS

WEAR: Returning Band students should please wear their polos.

To welcome our freshman and welcome back our returning students, I would like to invite all YHS Band students to our 20th annual Ice Cream Social – an evening of new friends, fun games, and yummy ice cream.  New this year, in celebration of our entire YHS Music Department, this event will also include our Orchestra and Choir students. Dr. Bhasin, Ms. Stock and Ms. Kluga hope to see you there!

Congratulations to our awesome class of 2021 band students! It has been Ms. Kluga’s honor to be your teacher for four years – my love and best wishes to all as you begin your next adventures in life! Please stay in touch 🙂

MUSIC AT GRADUATION

Although the YHS Band and Orchestra are not able to perform in-person at this year’s ceremony, our June 2020 recording of Pomp and Circumstance, and a selection of our 2021 concert recordings will be featured. Ms. Kluga is so pleased that our music students will still have the opportunity to contribute to this beloved YHS tradition!

Huge thanks to this enthusiastic group for their continued work to support our seniors and our program! On behalf of the YHSBAA, each senior will receive a graduation goodie bag with information on how to join. Info is also attached.

Looking ahead to next school year, please save the date for YHS Band Ice Cream Social #20. We look forward to welcoming our freshmen and welcoming back our returning band students! Ice Cream Social 2021 is tentatively scheduled for Wednesday 9/1, 6-8pm, outside at YHS.
